1. Capt. Henry¹ Massie was born 1784. Capt. died 1841 at 57 years of age.

He married Susannah Preston Lewis August, 1810. Susannah was born 1794. Susannah was the daughter of Maj. John Lewis and Mary Preston. Susannah died 1825 at 31 years of age.

Capt. Henry Massie and Susannah Preston Lewis had the following children:

2 i. Sarah Cocke² Massie was born October 9, 1811. Sarah died March 30, 1879 at 67 years of age. She married Rev. Frank Stanley October 18, 1827.

3 ii. Mary Preston Massie was born September 26, 1813. Mary died April 18, 1837 at 23 years of age. She married John Hampden Pleasants December 15, 1829. John died 1846.

4 iii. Henry Massie JR. was born July 4, 1816. Henry died April 22, 1878 at 61 years of age. He married Susan Elizabeth Smith March 23, 1841. Susan was born April 22, 1822. Susan was the daughter of Thomas Bolton Smith and Caroline Sophia Rebecca Thompson. Susan died November 25, 1887 at 65 years of age.

5 iv. Eugenia Sophia Massie was born February 19, 1819. She married Col. Samuel V. Gatewood December 2, 1835.

6 v. Thomas Eugene Massie M.D. was born April 22, 1822. Thomas died September, 1863 at 41 years of age. He married twice. He married an unknown person. He married Mrs. Mary Waller Massie.

7 vi. Susan Lewis Massie was born May 4, 1824. Susan died October 20, 1824 at less than one year of age.
